Before It's Too Late...

On thursday I exhibited some of my work for this current project in a gallery at the Chinese Arts Centre in Manchester. The exhibition was organised by one of my flatmates, a fine art student at MMU and included work of 5 students in total, 3 fine art and 2 textiles including myself. I found the experience extremely worth while, and actually unexpectedly enjoyable, and feel I really benefitted from looking at my work crtically and getting it out into the open eye of the public...

Below are a selection of the photographs that I took of my work and the space...

Rhythm and Line Sketchbook...

Below are a few sketchbook pages which I feel best reflect my inspiration and ideas of pattern and rhythm. The fashion images were sourced from Italien Vogue and include Gucci and Salvatore Ferragamo.

Current Inspiration...

Not knowing where to start, and a little startled by a vast empty blog I feel a good place to begin would be with the visual research for my ongoing work.

Having spent a substantial amount of time in London, I have a large collection of photographs that I took whilst travelling around the city. I was captivated by the constant rhythm of both the people and the transport network but also of the surroundings. Many of the photographs I took focus on line, pattern and shape and I have chosen to use these as a source of inspiration for my current project.

By combining my photos with colour and trend research for SS11 I intend to design a range of contemporary knitted textiles.

Above are some of the key photos that have formed part of my visual research.
